The full name of this organization is "Regional Co-ordination Centre for Research and Development of Coarse Grains, Pulses, Roots and Tuber Crops in Asia and the Pacific."
CGPRT was established in 1981 as a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Commissions for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), one of the regional commissions of the United Nations. It is concerned with a wide range of important upland crops: coarse grains such as maize, sorghum, millet and barley; pulses such as soybean, mungbean, chickpea, pigeonpea, lentil, and groundnut; and root and tuber crops such as taro, yam, cassava, potato and sweet potato. The web site describes the work of CGPRT, and lists the publications for sale which can be ordered through the website. It also provides the full text of recent and current issues of PALAWIJA NEWS, the quarterly newsletter of CGPRT.
