The information a combined resource provided by more than 40 Land Grant universities in the United States. As well as agriculture, the information covers forestry, water resources and community development.

It is particularly strong in publications related to postharvest, including grain storage, but there are many other interesting topics as well.

IDRC is based in Canada, and has the aim of assisting scientists in developing countries to identify sustainable long-term, practical solutions to pressing development problems. This on-line library catalogue can be searched by topic, author etc. This is a good site for looking up references and names of journals. Some of the citations are linked to the full text of the document cited. There are also some reference photos and drawings of e.g. forest insects, and some genera of plants.

is an on-going network project which aims at providing universal free or low-cost information access through co-operation between UN Agencies, Universities and NGOs. Its website explains in detail how it hopes to accomplish this aim, and offers many suggestions, including free software, to help countries develop their library resources without having to buy books. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) brings together mountain scientists and farmers in the Himalayas/ Hindu Cush region, the home of 140 million people in eight countries. Website resources include a detailed introduction to the mountainous region served by the Centre, and the major causes of poverty and land degradation. The website also gives a detailed description of more than 20 technologies for mountain areas, including energy-related technologies and practices that are specifically suited to mountain conditions.

It has a wealth of information, including several databases on e.g. food security, the state of global soil resources, and water in agriculture. It includes a large number of free publications and reports.
