Philippines - FFTC initiated partnership with the Asian Farmers Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) with its participation in the recently concluded "Regional Consultation Workshop on Farmers' Situation: Responding to Major Difficulties Faced by Farmers in Asia". The workshop, aimed toward achieving a better understanding of the situation of farmers in their respective Asian countries and develop concrete ways to respond to the difficulties and challenges they face, was held on June 12-15, 2007 in Quezon City, Philippines.

FFTC was represented in the workshop by its agricultural economist, Mr. In-Woo Lee, who introduced to the participants the Center's commitment to contribute to the revitalization of the agriculture sector in the Asian and Pacific (ASPAC) region by responding to the needs of small-scale farmers for practical technologies.
