Induction of Pregnancy and Twin Calving in Beef Cattle by Means of Embryo Transfer, Either Unilateral or Bilateral
Increasing the Number of Twins by Embryo Transfer
The number of twins born to breeding beef cattle can be increased by embryo transfer. This not only improves the calving rate, but also the quality of calves. Studies on the impact of unilateral and bilateral embryo transfer techniques show that the percentage of pregnancies at 50 days after insemination was 47.1% (23/48). Of these, 26.1% (6/23) were twins.
